CDA and Director/Staff Renewal

NEWS FLASH! The Renewal Amnesty Program allows anyone who has earned or renewed a CDA in the last 10 years to apply for Renewal, even if the CDA credential has expired. This means that if your CDA has a credential date of January 2002 or later, you are eligible to renew. Renewal Amnesty lasts until May 31, 2013.  If you are taking advantage of this program, please note that you still need to meet all the other requirements listed below.

ClassesOnline4U offers a Renewal Package ($200) that can be used to meet the 45 hours of training (4.5 IACET CEUs) required by the CDA Council and other renewal programs such as Director and Staff Renewal. This package allows you to select up to 45 hours of the classes that you feel will be most beneficial to you for one low price. All of the classes you will have to select from may be used for these renewal programs. Just Register, Login and Click on the Renewal Package to begin

CDA Renewal
A CDA Credential is valid for 3 years from the initial award date. Subsequent renewals are required every 5 years. The CDA Council requires that all CDA Renewal Candidates meet the following 5 criteria.

  1. Documented current First Aid Certificate.
  2. Documented proof of 4.5 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) or a 3 credit-hour course. All of our classes can be used toward the 4.5 CEU requirement.
  3. Minimum of 80 hours of documented recent (within last year) work experience.
  4. A Letter of Recommendation form completed by an Early Childhood Education Professional.
  5. Documented organizational membership in a national or local early childhood professional organization.

There is a small fee for the renewal application packet that you must obtain from the CDA Council. You can obtain more specific information about this process by going to the CDA Council website.

Director/Staff Credential Renewal

ATTN: Florida Director Credential.

When you order the Renewal Package you will be able to choose 45 hours from any of the classes listed (See Class List) except First Aid, HIV and Bloodborne Pathogens. All classes provide an approved CEU credit based upon the number of hours taken. Each hour is worth one tenth (1/10th) of a CEU; every 10 hours provides you with a full CEU. You can select whichever classes you wish to take up to 45 hours to help you fulfill your credential renewal. If you are applying for the renewal of both your Florida Staff Credential and your Florida Director Credential, please be aware that each renewal requires a separate training requirement. The Department of Children and Families does not accept the same training towards the renewal of more than one credential. If you have specific questions, please call 1-800-346-4915.
