Description:
This class discusses basic information concerning special needs children. It covers such topics as the American Disabilities Act (ADA), types of disabilities you may encounter, health and safety issues, environmental changes and available resources.
Learning Outcomes:
Be able to:
1. Define the American Disabilties Act (ADA)
2. List 4 basic requirements of Title III
3. Define and give an example of "auxiliary aids and services"
4. Define and give an example of "undo burden"
5. Name 2 ways you can recoup costs for modifications made
6. List at least 4 types of disabilities that fall under the ADA
7. Identify 2 specific learning needs related to each disability
8. Define and give an example of "direct threat"
9. List 4 health and safety issues you might encounter
